Campen is written in Japanese with English subtitles. It is directed by Shiny Shimada, who previously worked on Japanese Drama movies such as Kaze no Gotoku and Kamen. The most interesting aspect of this movie is that it centers on a simple theme, which many Japanese dramas would base their stories around: friendship and teamwork. Shimada does a fantastic job of creating the characters' background to make them unique and interesting.

For example, one scene shows David and Campen bonding over a game of basketball where they both shoot "Basket ball" that falls between them. The two then have to save the game after it gets stuck in a large ditch. There is also quite a bit of dancing when Campen and David are trying to get the ball to Padiwarada, who is very slow to catch it.
